Arts We Do

Arts in action

City of Dublin Youth Services collaborates with relevant stakeholders to maximise opportunities for young people to engage with a variety of art forms. We also offer arts opportunities directly to young people. As an organisation, we provide support and training for youth workers and youth leaders in arts methodologies, skills, programmes as well opportunities for discussion about arts practice in a youth work context.

Arts in collaboration

Some of the arts programmes we support, facilitate and provide include:

Visual Arts Development Programme (VADP)

The VADP is available throughout the year for projects, services, clubs and groups enabling them with artistic support to develop ambitious visual arts programmes. This programme uses youth work methodologies in its delivery.

St Patricks Day programme

We work with various youth projects and services across the city and across art forms to create a visual audio programme, culminating in their participation in the annual St Patricks Day Parade.

Open Mic

A space for young performers to take their first steps in live performance, support one another, and connect with peers - all while enjoying a night full of fun, food and of course music!

Arts in the Garden

A series of day long multi art form workshops, which take place in the City of Dublin Youth Services garden. These workshops are held for young people from UBU Your Place Your Space funded projects and services.

Music Generation Dublin City

Songwriting and music production programme over 8 weeks are run in collaboration with Music Generation Dublin City for UBU Your Place Your Space funded projects and services.

Arts Training

Training for youth workers, youth leaders and young people across various art forms including circus skills and video editing (in collaboration with National Youth Council of Ireland) smartphone video/film creation, drama, music and visual arts.

Metric Games

The Metric challenge games are available throughout the year. They have proven to be very popular. Primarily based on balance, focus and coordination, they work best with groups of up to 10 young people.
